TICKETS TORN IN HALF July 28, 1998: BUDDY GUY/JONNY LANG/SUSAN Tedeschi @ Hammerstein Ballroom What a great guitar show. Susan Tedeschi was a youngster with a bluesy voice who could work up the crowd. Followed by another youngster JONNY LANG. But nothing compares to BUDDY GUY. From the very first time I saw Mr. Guy in 1969 , over the many years, many shows, again this year (2018) he does not disappoint. The last song of the 1998 gig was a guitar duel with all 3 on the stage. Buddy won when he played the last few licks with the guitar over his shoulder.

I agree Buddy Guy really is amazing. I’ve seen him twice, including earlier this year as well as BB King Blues Club & Grill. Such a shame they were forced to close – too much fucking greed in the music business!

Agreed. Rent in that district made it unaffordable to continue. But I did see some great acts at BB King’s. Saw Buddy just a few months ago and he still has “the blues”.
